Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Franklin College women's soccer team made their long-awaited home debut on Wednesday (Mar. 17) night, taking on the Hanover Panthers at Faught Stadium.
The Grizzlies (1-2) had their first home match spoiled by their conference rival as the Panthers (4-0) took a 5-0 decision.
Hanover grabbed the lead less than three minutes into the game but the Grizzlies generated a pair of looks midway through the first half in search of the tying goal. Sophomore Mackenzie Wilhelm had two solid looks at the tying marker but just missed her target in both the 20th and 22nd minutes, respectively.
Momentum swung into the Panthers' favor late in the first half with a goal coming off a corner kick. The second half saw the Panthers extend their lead on three more occasions.
The Grizzlies held Hanover to nine shot attempts while generating three in the attacking end. Sophomore Brianna Rogers turned back two shots before turning the net over to Riley Rice, who made her career debut in goal.
Franklin is back in action on Saturday (Mar. 20) afternoon, hitting the road to take on the Earlham Quakers. Kick-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
