Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College men's basketball team returned home after more than a month's worth of road contests for a Saturday (Dec. 4) afternoon league matchup with the Defiance Yellow Jackets.
Senior Matt Krause grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds and added 10 points for his second double-double of the year. But the low-scoring contest went the way of the visitors, as the Grizzlies (3-2, 1-1 HCAC) had their three-game winning streak halted by the Yellow Jackets (3-4, 2-0 HCAC), 62-59.
How it Happened
The opening 20 minutes saw three ties and six lead changes as the two teams jockeyed for position on the scoreboard. Defiance held their biggest lead of the afternoon at 28-19 with four minutes to go before the break thanks to a 12-2 run. Franklin countered with a run of their own before the half, netting the final 10 points of the first frame to take a 29-28 lead into the locker room.
Back-to-back buckets from Krause out of the break gave Franklin their largest lead of the night, but the Yellow Jackets had an answer each time the Grizzlies looked poised to go on a run. The final 20 minutes featured another seven ties and nine lead changes and came down to the final possession, but the Grizzlies weren't able to get a shot off before the final horn.
