RECAP | Grizzlies Bested by Albion on Monday Night

Box Score

ALBION, Mich. – The Franklin College women's basketball team took on the Albion Britons on Monday (Dec. 20) night in their final contest before the Christmas break.

The Grizzlies (4-4) fell into an early hole and the Britons (10-1) made them pay, with Albion taking the game by a score of 71-40.

How it Happened
The two teams traded buckets in the first 93 seconds of game play, before a shooting drought doomed the Grizzlies. Franklin went more than 11 minutes of game action without a field goal and managed just four field goals in the first half as Albion took a 34-18 lead into the locker room. That lead proved to be plenty of cushion for the rest of the contest.

Inside the Box Score
-Senior Jessica Nix led the Grizzlies with 14 points in the game.
-Franklin's defense held Albion to under 40% from the floor, but couldn't overcome a 24.1% (13-for-54) shooting performance.
-The Grizzlies finished the night with a 48-43 advantage on the glass, with sophomore CiCi Bailey leading all players with 10 rebounds. Bailey is up to five games this year with double digit rebounding totals.

Up Next
The Grizzlies are off until after Christmas, when they travel to Greencastle, Ind. for the DePauw University Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tournament. Franklin opens the event with a matchup against Piedmont, with tip-off set for 4:00 p.m. on Dec. 29.
