RECAP | Page's First Half Goal Stands Up as Winner in Shutout of Earlham

Box Score

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College women's soccer team welcomed the Earlham Quakers to Faught Stadium on Saturday (Oct. 9) afternoon.

The Grizzlies (3-8, 2-2 HCAC) got a goal midway through the first half from Elaina Page and turned things over to their defense from there. The home side limited the Quakers (1-8, 0-3 HCAC) to just three shots on target in a 1-0 win, snapping a two-game skid.

How it Happened
After a couple quality chances early on, the Grizzlies hit pay dirt in the 25th minute when Page and Kinsey Price connected for the game-winning tally. Price sent a crossing feed in that found its way to Page's foot and from there, the back of the net.

From there, the Grizzly defense held court for the rest of the day, limiting Earlham's chances to the outside. The Quakers' last-ditch effort to tie things up came in the 88th minute, but Riley Rice was right where she needed to be to stop Earlham's Eva Lyon.

Inside the Box Score
-Page led all attackers with six shot attempts and notched a pair of shots on target to tie with Price for the team lead. Attempts were 12-5 in Franklin's favor with the Grizzlies holding a 5-3 edge in shots on target.
-Rice recorded her third career clean shit, all this season, making three saves on the afternoon.

Up Next
Franklin heads back out on the road on Wednesday (Oct. 13) when they travel to Hanover for a matchup with their long-time rival. Kick-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
