Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin men's basketball team began a regular season-ending three-game homestand on Saturday (Feb. 15) afternoon, taking on the Anderson Ravens inside the Spurlock Center.
Four Grizzlies (15-8, 11-5 HCAC) finished the afternoon in double figures with 20 point from Borden Kennedy topping all FC scorers. But the hosts were unable to overcome a sharp-shooting Ravens (11-12, 8-8 HCAC) squad, as Anderson left town with a 106-87 win.
Both teams jostled for position in the early going, with Franklin drawing even at nine with 16:40 to go in the first half after a 7-2 run. But the Ravens would catch fire soon after, knocking down six straight field goals and 10-of-12 shots to begin the game and make it 26-13 Ravens with 12:43 to go in the half.
Anderson's lead grew to as many as 17 in the first half, but the Grizzlies rallied to get back within one possession thanks to a 15-4 run that was capped by a Matt Krause three-pointer with 5:20 to go in the half. But the Grizzlies couldn't close the gap and closer and headed into the break facing a 52-39 deficit thanks to a Raven offense that shot 60.6% (20-for-33) from the floor in the opening half.
The second half began with seven straight Franklin points and following another Krause triple with 16:10 to go, the deficit sat at 57-52 thanks to a 13-5 run to open the half. But a quick-strike Anderson offense stretched the lead back to double figures less than a minute later after a 6-0 run. Franklin would draw within four after an Ismail Jones layup made it 79-75 with 6:57 to play, but Anderson followed with a 16-1 run to put the contest out of reach.
Kennedy was joined in double figures by the frontcourt duo of Mills and Krause, who finished with 18 and 17 points, respectively. Kale Morris also hit double figures with 10 points and is now 12 points away from reaching the 1,000-point milestone. The Grizzlies shot 50% (31-for-62) from the floor and out-rebounded the Ravens 35-29 with Mills grabbing 11 boards for his seventh double-double of the year.
The final week of the regular season begins on Wednesday (Feb. 19), when the Mount St. Joseph Lions come to the Spurlock Center for a 7:30 p.m. tip. Franklin enters the final week tied atop the league with Transylvania with Bluffton and Hanover one game back.
