Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. – Freshman Garrett Snyder potted his first two career goals for the Franklin men's soccer team on Sunday (Sept. 1) afternoon against Adrian College.
The Franklin-native buried tallies in 40th and 79th minutes, respectively, the first two Grizzly (0-2) goals of the year. But the home team was done in by a potent Adrian (1-0) offense as the Bulldogs left town with a 6-2 win.
Down by a pair of goals late in the first half, Snyder got the Grizzlies on the board with time ticking down in the period. Senior Jordan Thomas carried the ball down the right wing before powering to the net and putting a shot that produced a rebound and allowed Snyder to stick the ball into a yawning cage.
But the Grizzlies were unable to capitalize on the momentum, conceding two goals before the end of the first half. Snyder buried his second of the game with a little more than 10 minutes to play, knocking home a Mason May crossing feed to cap the Grizzlies' scoring.
Shot attempts were 18-10 in Adrian's favor, with Snyder, Thomas and Austin Boyer finishing the afternoon with two shot attempts each. Jake Hendricks finished with a pair of saves while Elliott Clark stopped three shots in relief during the first half.
Franklin's five-match homestand continues next Friday (Sept. 6) night, when they welcome Rockford College to Faught Stadium for a showdown under the lights. Kick-off is set for 8:30 p.m.
