RECAP | Grizzlies Fall to Pioneers on Wednesday Night in Kentucky

Box Score

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Franklin men's soccer team hit the road on Wednesday (Oct. 30) night for the first of two straight road contests to close out the season, taking on league co-leader Transylvania University.

Senior Mason May got the Grizzlies (4-15, 1-7 HCAC) on the board first, scoring late in the first half to match a career-high with five goals on the year. But a Pioneer (10-6, 7-1 HCAC) scoring wave came early in the second half, propelling Transy to a 6-1 win.

With less than 15 minutes to go in the opening half, the Grizzlies lined up for a free kick in the Transylvania zone. Jordan Thomas re-directed the uncontested long ball that ended up on May's foot in tight and he beat keeper Drew Grisham to put Franklin ahead. Chances were 11-2 Pioneers in the opening half, but Franklin took a one-goal lead into the break.

The lead held until the 55th minute, when the Pioneers potted three goals over a four-minute span to take the lead for good. Jake Hendricks made his fourth straight start in goal and finished the night with six saves.

Franklin wraps up the 2019 season on Saturday (Nov. 2) night, heading to Cincinnati, Ohio for a meeting with the Mount St. Joseph Lions. Kick-off is set for approximately 7:30 p.m.
