RECAP | Quakers Spoil Franklin's Final Home Match of 2019

Box Score

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin men's soccer team closed out their home schedule on Saturday (Oct. 26) night, hosting the Earlham Quakers on a night where the wind was howling at Faught Stadium for Senior Night.

The Grizzlies (4-14, 1-6 HCAC) got a trio of first half goals, two coming from senior Jordan Thomas and one coming from fellow senior Mason May. But the Quakers (3-11-2, 2-5 HCAC) would spoil Franklin's last home date of the year, rallying for a 4-3 win.

Franklin opened the scoring just 6:07 in, when Thomas got the Grizzlies on the board with a cheeky re-direction of a Trevor Bray corner kick. Almost exactly five minutes later, May doubled Franklin's lead when he got a wide open look off an Andrew Vidal centering feed and made no mistake depositing his fourth goal of the year into the net.

Thomas added his second of the night in the 39th minute, pouncing on an errant Earlham pass and firing a rope into the net from 20 yards out. Shots in the opening half were 17-2 in Franklin's favor with the Grizzlies using the wind at their backs to suffocate the Earlham defense.

But the Quakers flipped momentum in the second half, scoring all four of their goals over a 20-minute span to rally back. Much like the Grizzlies in the first half, Earlham used the wind to their advantage to attempt 12 second half shots to a pair for Franklin.

Thomas led all FC attackers with four shot attempts and three shots on goal while May and Jimmy Lawson had three shot attempts each. Final shot attempts were 19-14 in Franklin's favor.

The Grizzlies hit the road this coming Wednesday (Oct. 30) night, heading to Lexington, Ky. to take on league co-leader Transylvania. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
