RECAP | Offense Powers Grizzlies Past Anderson on Friday Night

Box Score

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Franklin volleyball team bounced back in impressive fashion on Friday (Oct. 11) night, recovering from their first conference loss to sweep Anderson in a big conference road match.

The Grizzlies (15-8, 3-1 HCAC) grabbed control of all three sets from the Ravens (7-12, 1-2 HCAC), winning 25-14, 25-19, 25-22 to become the first team in the league to three conference wins.

Game one saw the Grizzlies rattle off an early 6-0 run to seize an 8-2 lead. It proved to be just the start of an impressive showing from the FC attack with Franklin hitting .304 in the set and getting six kills from Kyndall Boyll to roll past the Ravens.

The second set saw the two league rivals exchange several ties and lead changes throughout the set, but the momentum was flipped in the Grizzlies' favor when three straight points turned a tie game into a 15-12 FC lead. The rest of the set featured a stellar defensive effort combined with precision hitting from the visitors as FC snatched a two-game lead.

Franklin never trailed in the final game of the night with the decisive stretch being a 6-1 run that turned a one-point game into a 15-9 FC lead. The Ravens made a late push to within two points late in the set, but Boyll put the game away with a thunderous kill to finish off the sweep and secure Franklin's second sweep of the Ravens in as many years.

Boyll was the most active Franklin attacker on Friday night, putting together a 15-kill performance on 44 attempts with a .205 hitting percentage. Timber Falin was successful on half of her attack attempts on her way to a 10-kill performance. Billie Jarrett handed out 36 assists and added a team-high three aces on the night. Allison Thompson (13) and Morgan Curtis (11) were the only players to reach double-figure dig totals.

Franklin steps out of conference play for their next matchup, heading to Kentucky next Wednesday (Oct. 16) for a rematch with the Spalding Golden Eagles. The Grizzlies will have revenge on their mind after Spalding took the first matchup of the year between the two in Franklin back on Sept. 24. First serve from Louisville is set for 7:00 p.m.
