RECAP | Grizzlies Overwhelmed by Quakers on Saturday

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Franklin College volleyball team resumed Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play on Saturday afternoon, taking on the Earlham Quakers.

The Grizzlies (10-9, 0-3 HCAC) struggles continued Saturday afternoon as Franklin fell in straight sets to the Quakers (14-6, 2-1 HCAC), 25-16, 25-15, 25-16. Amanda Lelivelt and Avery Sparks topped the Grizzlies with six kills each, but Franklin hit just .080 as a team on the day while Earlham recorded a .284 attacking percentage, a major deciding factor in the Quakers' win.

Game one was dead-locked at 10 before a 5-1 Earlham run gave the Quakers some breathing room. Franklin would cut the deficit to 15-13, but Earlham would surge down the stretch, taking 10 of the final 13 points.

The Quaker offense overwhelmed the Grizzlies in game two, hitting .394 and committing just one attack error to go up 2-0 in the match. Earlham would close out the match in set three with another near perfect frame on offense, finishing with a .261 attacking percentage while committing just two errors in the set.

Three Grizzlies finished with double-digit dig totals on Saturday afternoon, with Libby Stahl leading the way with 17 digs. Sparks and Peak joined her in double figures with 12 and 11 digs, respectively. Nico Morris handed out 15 assists and added one service ace.

Franklin looks to snap their three-game slide this coming Wednesday night when the Grizzlies welcome Rose-Hulman to the Spurlock Center. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
