FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The Franklin College women's basketball team defeated Mount St. Joseph University Saturday 64-52. With the win, the Grizzlies improve to 6-5 on the season and 4-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Senior forward Emily Alfrey led the Grizzlies with 15 points on 6 of 7 shooting from the field. Senior forward Sarah Taylor contributed nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Junior guard Kelsey Smith added 9 points on 4 of 5 shooting from the field.

Mount St. Joseph falls to 1-12 on their season. Sophomore guard Lainee Studer led the Lions with 25 points and 10 rebounds.

The Grizzlies next game is Jan. 9 at HCAC rival Bluffton. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
