Women's Basketball Falls to Bluffton at Home

FRANKLIN, IND. (January 21, 2017) – Franklin College women's basketball fell 64-55 against Bluffton University inside the Spurlock Center.

Franklin slips to 7-9 on the year and 5-5 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference with Saturday's loss. The Grizzlies led 25-24 at the half, but the Beavers came out strong in the third quarter and never let down.

Senior Emily Alfrey had an impressive outing offensively finishing with a game-high 21 points for the Grizzlies. Sarah Taylor added 5 points and 7 rebounds on the night, while Taylor Baxter recorded 9 points. However, the Grizzlies struggled shooting 33.8% from the field as a team compared to Bluffton's 46.8%.

Three starters for the Beavers finished the game in double figures giving them the edge and the win. Leading the way was Macey Sheerer with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Rachel Beining recorded 17 points and 7 rebounds. Kaycee Rowe also contributed 13 points and 8 rebounds on the night.

The Grizzlies will have another HCAC face off when they travel to Manchester Wednesday January 25. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
