Men's Basketball Defeated by Hanover College

FRANKLIN, IND. (January 18, 2017) – The Franklin College men's basketball team lost on its home court to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference leader Hanover College 78-57 Wednesday night.

The loss brings the Grizzlies to a 4-11 overall record. They are 1-7 in the HCAC. Freshman Braxton Day led scoring efforts for Franklin with 12 points while also recording five rebounds. John Beineke also contributed 10 points.

The Grizzlies struggled defensively and keeping Hanover from taking control of the boards. The Panthers outrebounded the Grizzlies 48-26. Two Hanover starters, Corey Muchmore and Colin Smith, finished the night with 10 rebounds each.

Hanover shot 50 percent from the field as a team and had three players in double figures. Cam Fails recorded a game-high 21 points, while Wes McKinney followed with 20 points.

Franklin tries to break its six-game losing streak this Saturday, also Alumni Day, when the team hosts Bluffton inside the Spurlock Center. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. with women's game to follow.
