Volleyball Loses HCAC Opener at Manchester

North Manchester, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team lost a hard-fought four-set match at Manchester University in its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener on Saturday.

Manchester took the opening set 25-14 before Franklin evened the contest with a 27-25 victory in the second set. The Spartans won the final two sets by 26-24 and 27-25 set scores.

Junior Amanda Lelivelt led the offensive attack with 14 kills compared to two hitting errors in the match. Junior Lauren Harmon registered nine kills, while junior Brooke Harvey added eight kills. Freshman Amber Williams rounded out the balanced offensive attack with seven kills.

Senior Ashley Bazier had a season-high 32 assists, while recording 15 digs defensively. Freshman Nico Morris tallied 14 assists in the match.

Sophomore Libby Stahl led the Grizzlies with 29 digs, while freshman Kennedy Surface and Harmon each chipped in with nine digs.

Franklin returns to action on Wednesday, September 28 at 7 p.m. when it hosts Centre College in non-conference action.
