Box Score Berea, Ky. - The Franklin College men's soccer team earned a 3-3 draw at Berea College during its non-conference finale on Saturday.
The Grizzlies scored twice in the first 23 minutes of the match. The visitors need some drama late in the match, scoring the equalizing goal with 1:26 remaining in regulation. Both teams were unable to find the back of the net during the two 10-minute overtime periods.
Junior Cam Mattern scored his first goal of the season after receiving a pass from freshman Jordan Thomas in the first two minutes of the match. Freshman Tyler Majeski gave Franklin a 2-0 lead in the 23rd minute on his second goal of the season.
Berea got on the scoreboard in the 42nd minute and then tied the match at 2-2 with a goal in the 55th minute. Berea successfully converted a penalty kick in the 88th minute to grab a 3-2 lead.
However, 55 seconds later senior Antonio Gioe scored his first goal of the season to tie the match at 3-3 in the 89th minute.
Sophomore Luke Oliver led Franklin with two shots in the match. Six different players recorded one shot for the Grizzlies.
Franklin returns to action on Saturday, October 1 at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts Defiance College in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener from Faught Stadium.
