Men's Soccer Battles Trine to Scoreless Draw

Lexington, Ky. - The Franklin College men's soccer team relied on a stingy defensive effort during a scoreless draw against Trine University to conclude play in the Transylvania Classic on Sunday.

The Grizzlies (0-3-2) recorded 11 corner kicks in the match. Franklin had nine of its 21 shots on goal, including five shots on target during the second half. Overall, Trine (0-3-2) held a slight 26-21 shot advantage during the 110-minute contest.

Freshman goalkeeper Jackson Shepherd made 10 saves during the shutout in his first collegiate start. Sunday marked the team's first shutout of the season.

Junior Mason Krupa and sophomore Blaine Fuhs each tied for match-high honors with six shot attempts. Freshman Mason May added three shots, while freshman Zanawl Thang registered two shots in the contest.

Franklin returns to action on Wednesday, September 14 at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts DePauw University in the 2016 home opener from Faught Stadium.
