Men's Basketball Defeats DePauw in 2016-17 Season Opener

Franklin, Ind. - Franklin College defeated DePauw University 86-74 to open their season at home inside the Spurlock Center Wednesday night.

The Grizzlies made a strong debut on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court that earned them a victory and a 1-0 start to the season. Offensively, the Grizzlies were consistent and efficient shooting 50.0% from the field, 37.5% from the arc, and 72% from the free throw line. On the defensive end, Franklin out rebounded DePauw 40-31.

Franklin's offense landed four players in double figures. Leading the way for the Grizzlies was returning all-conference senior Aaron Mann with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Brett McCory also ended the night with a double/double, 11 points and 13 rebounds. Robbie Prather and Kale Morris were also major contributors with 12 and 13 points respectively.

DePauw ended the night shooting 38.5% from the field and 39.3% from the three point line. Luke Lattner opened the season making 12-25 field goals and scoring a game high 34 points for the Tigers. Nate Jahn added 11 points and Jack VandeMerkt recorded 8 total rebounds.

Franklin will play again over Thanksgiving break when they travel to Florida to face Florida College and Eckerd College on November 21-22.
