Women's Soccer Earns Road HCAC Triumph Against Transy

Lexington, Ky. - Franklin College sophomore Maddie Fleet scored her 20th goal of the season to lead the women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Transylvania University on Wednesday evening in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action.

Fleet found the back of the net in the 17th minute after receiving a pass from junior Clare Lenart.

Franklin (12-3, 5-1 HCAC) held a 5-2 shot advantage during the first half and ended the match with a 13-10 edge. Junior Jillian Lawrence, freshman Taylor McDaniel, and Fleet each led the visitors with three shots.

Freshman goalkeeper Lexi Short made four saves to record the shutout.

The Grizzlies, ranked sixth in the Great Lakes region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, remained in a tie for second place with Hanover College with 15 points.

Franklin returns to action on Saturday, October 22 at 6 p.m. when it hosts Earlham College from Faught Stadium.
