Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team's five-match home winnings streak ended in a four-set loss to Bluffton University (22-25, 25-22, 25-18, 26-24) on Saturday in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action inside the Spurlock Center.

The Grizzlies (12-10, 2-4 HCAC) won eight consecutive points early in the first set off the serve of junior Brooke Harvey. Franklin did not surrender the lead to grab early momentum.

Bluffton (17-7, 5-0 HCAC) used a strong finish in the second set to square the match. Franklin built a 13-8 advantage in the third set before the Beavers closed on a 17-5 run to take its first lead of the match.

Bluffton hit .333 in the third set with 13 kills compared to four errors.

In the fourth set, the two teams exchanged points and Franklin led 24-23 before the Beavers won the final three points to secure the victory.

Junior Amanda Lelivelt led Franklin's offensive attack with 11 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Freshman Kennedy Surface added eight kills, while Harvey chipped in seven kills. Freshman Jenna Spini registered six kills and one hitting error in the match.

Senior Ashley Bazier helped distribute the offense with 25 assists. Freshman Nico Morris recorded 15 assists.

Defensively, sophomore Libby Stahl had a team-high 29 digs, while Surface reached double figures with 16 digs. Harvey rounded out the balanced effort with 10 digs.

Franklin returns to action on Wednesday, October 19 at 7 p.m. when it hosts Hanover College during the program's Dig Pink Night from the Spurlock Center. Donations will be accepted toward breast cancer awareness and research.
