Men's Soccer Wins Third Straight Match, Defeats MSJ 2-0

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's soccer team moved into a three-way tie for third place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) behind a 2-0 victory against Mount St. Joseph University on Saturday from Faught Stadium.

The Grizzlies (3-6-4, 3-1-1 HCAC) scored once in each half to give the visiting Lions their first league loss of the season. Franklin also recorded their second shutout in the past three league matches.

Sophomore Blaine Fuhs found the back of the net in the 29th minute after receiving a pass from freshman Jordan Thomas. Fuhs fired a shot inside the left post from inside the six-yard box.

Freshman Conrad Bomber scored an insurance goal in the 55th minute for his second tally of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Garrett Belden made five saves for the shutout.

MSJ (8-3-3, 3-1-1 HCAC) held a slight 11-8 advantage in shots, including a 6-4 edge in shots on goal. Sophomore Luke Oliver led the Grizzlies with three shots.

Franklin moved into a three-way tie for third place with Transylvania University and Mount St. Joseph with 10 points. The Grizzlies return to action on Wednesday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. at home against Transylvania from Faught Stadium.
