Box Score Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's soccer team lost a hard-fought 1-0 home contest to Millikin University in non-conference action on Saturday at Faught Stadium.
Millikin (7-1) scored its lone goal in the third minute when Patrick Dolan found the back of Franklin's net.
Two of the Grizzlies' three shots in the match came in the first half. The team attempted the square the match with a corner kick in the final minute of the contest. However, the Big Blue's defense turned away that opportunity to preserve the shutout.
Senior Zach Shoufler (Fortville, Ind./Greenfield-Central), sophomore Mason Krupa (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike), and freshman Blaine Fuhs (Washington, Ind./Washington Catholic) each attempted one shot in the match for Franklin.
Sophomore goalkeeper Garrett Belden (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) earned his first start of the season in the match. He made three of his five saves in the second half.
Franklin concludes its non-conference schedule on Sunday, September 27, at 3 p.m. when it hosts Concordia University of Chicago at Faught Stadium. Live statistics of the match will be available HERE.
