Bloomington, Ill. - The Franklin College volleyball team posted a season-high 12 serving aces in sweeping Knox College to begin play at the Illinois Wesleyan University Tournament on Friday. The team later lost in straight sets to the host Titans.

The Grizzlies (5-8) won the opening set 25-19 against Knox before being victorious by identical 25-17 scores in the second and third sets.

Senior Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) had a career-high five serving aces in the tournament opener, and classmate Hope Steel (New Palestine, Ind./Lutheran) tallied three aces. Seniors Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) and Emily Young (Avon, Ind./Avon) each had two serving aces in the match.

Sophomore Amanda Lelivelt (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Riverside Brookfield) led Franklin's balanced offensive attack with 10 kills in just 16 attacks. She recorded a .562 hitting percentage for the match.

Settle added eight kills and two blocks in the victory. Young recorded seven kills, while sophomore Brooke Harvey (Clinton, Ind./South Vermillion) had four kills.

Franklin tallied 34 kills, compared to 14 hitting errors, for a .182 team hitting percentage in the match.

Junior Ashley Bazier (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute South) distributed the offensive attack with 28 assists. She also added 15 digs defensively against Knox.

Wieneke led the Grizzlies with 17 digs in the victory, while senior Theresa Brown (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) added 10 digs.
