Box Score Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's soccer team won its second-straight match, earning a 3-0 home triumph over Carroll University (Wisconsin) on Sunday afternoon at Faught Stadium.
The Grizzlies won both matches at the third annual Daniel Schuetz Community Classic. Franklin defeated Trine University 2-1 on Saturday.
Franklin (2-3) got off to a quick start on a goal by senior Austin Fundenberger (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) in the 11th minute. Sophomore Cole Reichard (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) crossed a ball from the right side of the box to set up the scoring opportunity.
The Grizzlies tallied two goals in the second half to secure the victory. Senior Thaddeus Broderick (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) drilled a shot from the top of the box after receiving a pass from Fundenberger in the 55th minute.
Later, freshman Blaine Fuhs (Washington, Ind./Washington Catholic) scored his second goal of the season in the 72nd minute. Classmate Michael Tudor (Speedway, Ind./Speedway) helped set up the scoring chance.
Carroll (1-3-1), who advanced to the 2014 NCAA Division III tournament, held an 18-10 shot edge in the match. Franklin recorded six of its 10 shots in the second half. Senior goalkeeper Cody Chapman (Vincennes, Ind./Washington) made nine saves for the first shutout of the season.
Fundenberger led Franklin with four shots in the match. Fuhs attempted two shots, while four other players had one shot in the win.
Franklin closes out its three-match home stand when it battles Berea College (Kentucky) on Friday, September 18, at 7 p.m. from Faught Stadium. Live statistics of the match will be available.
