Football Loses at Division I-FCS Butler

Indianapolis, Ind. - The Franklin College football team scored two second-half touchdowns, but it was not enough in losing 41-14 to NCAA Division I-FCS Butler University on Saturday evening.

Franklin (0-2) got on the scoreboard when sophomore quarterback Chase Burton (Corydon, Ind./Corydon Central) had a one-yard rushing touchdown with 6:52 left in the third quarter.

Sophomore running back Tanner Kameda (Paoli, Ind./Paoli) scampered 28 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to cap the game's scoring.

Butler (1-1) led 10-0 after the first quarter, but added three second-quarter touchdowns to build a 31-0 halftime lead.

Burton completed 30 of 40 passes for 191 yards. His favorite target was sophomore split end Darrell Crenshaw (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison), who caught seven passes. Sophomore wingback Lee Wroblewski (Salem, Ind./Paoli) and senior wingback Kendal Butler (Toledo, Ill./Cumberland) each had six receptions.

Junior running back Kole Stogner (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) gained a team-high 45 yards on the ground.

Junior defensive back Zay Thornton (Ocala, Fla./Vanguard) tied for team-high honors with eight tackles. Senior linebacker Jeremiah Windell (Corydon, Ind./Corydon Central) also had eight stops in the game.

Franklin opens Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday, September 19 at 6 p.m. when it hosts Anderson University at Faught Stadium. The Grizzlies have won five straight conference titles. Saturday's game will be the second ever night game at Faught Stadium.
