Box Score Hanover, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team ended its 2015 season with a 3-1 loss to top seed Hanover College in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament semifinals on Saturday.
Franklin (17-15) won the opening set 25-20 before the Panthers captured the final three sets.
Senior Emily Young (Avon, Ind./Avon) led the team with 11 kills, while senior Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) added 10 kills.
Sophomore Amanda Lelivelt (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Riverside Brookfield) had seven kills.
Junior Ashley Bazier (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute South) helped distribute the offensive attack with 33 assists. She added 11 digs defensively in the match.
Senior Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) led the defensive unit with 20 digs. Senior Theresa Brown (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) and freshman Libby Stahl (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) each added eight digs.
Franklin's 17 wins match the program's 2014 total. The Grizzlies have equaled or won more matches than the previous season for six consecutive seasons.
The team tied for third place in the HCAC with a 5-4 league record and defeated No. 4 seed Transylvania University in a first-round tournament match up on Wednesday.
Saturday's match concluded the athletic careers of seniors Hope Steel (New Palestine, Ind./Lutheran), Brown, Settle, Wieneke, and Young.
