Box Score Franklin, Ind. - Franklin College freshman Maddie Fleet (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) scored with 42 seconds left in the second 10-minute overtime period to propel the women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Transylvania University on Tuesday from Faught Stadium in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play.
Franklin (9-1, 2-0 HCAC) has won both of its league matches in double overtime. Overall, the Grizzlies have won six consecutive matches.
Fleet received a pass from sophomore Jillian Lawrence (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) in the middle of the offensive zone. Fleet took a couple dribbles before firing a shot from 20 yards out. The ball got past Transylvania goalkeeper Ally Barfield and inside the left post.
Franklin hit the crossbar in the first half and added a shot off the post during the first 10-minute overtime session.
Junior goalkeeper Kelsie Williams (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) posted her second consecutive shutout by stopping all six shots on goal.
The Grizzlies held a 32-8 shot advantage in the match, including all eight shots between the two teams attempted in the extra time.
Fleet attempted a match-high 16 shots, including six shots on goal in the victory. Freshman Olivia Fisher (Clayton, Ind./Cascade) and Lawrence each had three shots. Junior Audra Lane (Washington, Ind./Washington) and sophomores Clare Lenart (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) and Kelsey Brunsman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming) each added two shots in the match.
