Women's Soccer Earns Share of HCAC Title, Fleet Nets Four Goals in Win at Earlham

Richmond, Ind. - The Franklin College women's soccer team earned a share of its first regular-season Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference  (HCAC) title behind a 7-0 win at Earlham College on Saturday. Freshman Maddie Fleet (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) scored four of the team's seven goals in the match.

Franklin (15-2, 8-1 HCAC) will be the No. 2 seed in next week's HCAC tournament and will host a semifinal match against No. 3 seed Mount St. Joseph University on Wednesday, November 4, at 7:30 p.m. from Faught Stadium.

The visitors wasted no time in finding the back of the net as sophomore Jessica Silva (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) scored 20 seconds into the match.

Fleet tallied the first of her four goals in the seventh minute to give Franklin a 2-0 advantage. Sophomore Clare Lenart (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) assisted on both early goals.

Fleet gave Franklin a 3-0 halftime lead with her second goal of the contest in the 43rd minute. She added goals in the 60th and 62nd minutes to extend the lead to 5-0. Lenart provided the assist to Fleet's goal in the 62nd minute. The freshman concluded the regular season with 23 goals scored on the season.

Junior Audra Lane (Washington, Ind./Washington) found the back of the net for the fifth time this season in the 69th minute after a pass from senior Allie Amato (Noblesville, Ind./Cathedral).

The Grizzlies capped their scoring the match in the 75th minute on a goal by sophomore Jasmine Hunt (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central). Senior Marci Black (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) helped set up Hunt's tally with a pass.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Young (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) stopped both shots on goal to record her second shutout of the season.

Franklin held a 21-7 shot advantage in the match, including an 8-2 edge in the first half. Fleet led the team's effort with nine shots. Sophomore Jillian Lawrence (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) and Hunt joined freshman Rachel Hawkins (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) in each attempting two shots in the match.
