Cincinnati, Ohio - Franklin College sophomore Kelsey Brunsman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming) scored in the first minute into the second overtime period as the women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 win at Mount St. Joseph University on Friday evening.

Brunsman's second goal of the season came on a rebound when a shot by sophomore Masey Bunn (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) was saved by Lions' goalkeeper Lindsey Sturwold.

Franklin has now won its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for the third consecutive season. The team stands 8-1 on the season and ranked sixth in this week's Great Lakes Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Franklin's defense posted its third shutout of the season. The team held a 13-5 shot advantage for the match, including a 3-0 edge in overtime. The Grizzlies attempted four shots on goal compared to MSJ's two shots on goal.

Bunn led Franklin with a team-high four shots. Freshman Maddie Fleet (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) had three shots in the victory. Sophomore Clare Lenart (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) added two shots, while four players attempted one shot on Friday.

Junior goalkeeper Kelsie Williams (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) won her fifth match of the season by stopping both two shots on goal.

Franklin returns to the pitch on Tuesday, October 6, at 7 p.m. when it hosts Transylvania University from Faught Stadium. Live video and statistics of the match will be available.
