Box Score Defiance, Ohio - Sophomore Haley Lowe (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) and freshman Maddie Fleet (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) each scored two goals as the Franklin College women's soccer picked up a 7-0 win at Defiance College on Saturday.
The Grizzlies extend their winning streak to seven matches and remain undefeated in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play. Franklin stands 10-1 on the season and 4-0 in league action.
Franklin found the back of the net four times in the first 13 minutes of the match. Fleet scored in the third minute off a corner kick by sophomore Jillian Lawrence (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville).
Later, another corner kick from Lawrence produced another goal when junior Audra Lane (Washington, Ind./Washington) scored in the sixth minute.
Howe gave the visitors a 3-0 lead in the 11th minute before Fleet netted her second goal of the match two minutes later.
Freshman Rachel Hawkins (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) capped the team's first-half scoring with a goal in the 36th minute.
In the second half, Lowe gave Franklin a 6-0 advantage in the 48th minute. Hawkins set up the goal early in the period. Sophomore Jess Silva (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) scored her first goal of the season in the 76th minute after receiving a pass from freshman Sydney Secrest (Greencastle, Ind./Greencastle).
Franklin held a 36-5 shot advantage in the match, including a 19-1 edge in the first half. The team registered nine corners in the contest. Hawkins recorded a match-high nine shots, while Lowe added six shots. Five players attempted five shots.
Franklin returns to the pitch on Tuesday, October 13, at 7 p.m. when it travels to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. Live statistics of the match will be available.
