Defiance, Ohio - The Franklin College men's soccer team won its second straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) road match, defeating Defiance College 2-0 on Saturday.

The Grizzlies (5-6-1, 2-1 HCAC) earned a 1-0 win at Mount St. Joseph University on October 2 to begin league play.

Senior Austin Fundenberger (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) gave the visitors the lead with a goal in the 22nd minute off a free kick by sophomore Ben Tierney (Wilder, Ky./Newport Central Catholic). The goal was his second of the season.

Fundenberger set up the Grizzlies second goal in the 62nd minute when he dribbled along the end line before passing to sophomore Cam Mattern (Pittsboro, Ind./Brownsburg). Mattern scored his third goal of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Cody Chapman (Vincennes, Ind./Washington) posted his third shutout of the season, recording three saves. He stopped a penalty kick in the 88th minute to secure the shutout.

The Grizzlies held a 24-9 shot advantage in the match. Freshman Blaine Fuhs (Washington, Ind./Washington Catholic) and Fundenberger each attempted five shots. Sophomore Mason Krupa (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) recorded four shots in the victory.

Franklin returns to the pitch on Wednesday, October 14, at 7:30 p.m. when it travels to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. Live statistics of the game will be available.
