Box Score Greencastle, Ind. - The Franklin College women's soccer team lost a hard-fought 1-0 match at DePauw University on Wednesday evening. The Tigers scored the only tally five minutes into the second half.
Franklin (2-2) recorded five of its seven shots for the match after intermission. The Grizzlies nearly got on the scoreboard in the final minute as freshman Jessica Silva (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) attempted a shot that was saved by the goalkeeper.
DePauw (2-4) scored on a shot from Stephanie Martin in the 50th minute.
Franklin freshman Haley Lowe (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) and junior Amy Jordan (Greenwood, Ind./Irvington Prep Academy) led the team with each having two shots. Freshmen Clare Lenart (Seymour, Ind./Seymour), Jasmine Hunt (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central), and Silva also attempted one shot.
The host Tigers held a slight 8-7 edge in shots during the 90-minute match.
Franklin returns to action on Saturday, September 20 at 2 p.m. when it travels Fontbonne University (Mo.). The team plays at Webster University (Mo.) on Sunday, September 21 at 1 p.m.
