Box Score Hanover, Ind. - The Franklin College women's basketball team lost in a tightly-contested contest at Hanover College 67-64 on Wednesday at Collier Arena. The Grizzlies stand in third place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) with a 9-4 league mark.
Hanover (12-8, 10-3 HCAC) took the game's final lead change when Jesse Davidson made all three free throw attempts with 4:24 left. The free throws gave the hosts a 57-55 advantage.
Franklin (11-9, 9-4 HCAC) trimmed the deficit to two points, 66-64, after a three pointer by freshman Lexi Ingram (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) with 10 seconds left. The Grizzlies would foul Davidson on the ensuing possession. She made just one free throw, giving Franklin a chance to tie.
Freshman Lauren DeSutter (Pittsboro, Ind./Tri-West) grabbed the defensive rebound. Following a time out by both teams, DeSutter's game-tying attempt missed just before the buzzer.
The visitors held a 26-17 halftime advantage and held Hanover to 20 percent shooting in the first half.
Hanover scored 50 points in the second half and made 21-of-30 free throw attempts in the contest.
Hanna Ballard (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) led three double-figure scorers with 12 points. Ingram added 11 points and sophomore Katie Brewer (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Brewer and DeSutter were returning to the lineup after missing the previous two games with an injury.
Freshman Mandy Fisher (Mooresville, Ind./Mooresville) had nine points and eight rebounds.
Hanover's Kelsey Block and Davidson each scored 14 points in the victory.
