Men's Soccer Begins Three-Match Road Swing on Wednesday

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's soccer team will begin a three-match road swing this week when it travels to nationally ranked DePauw University on Wednesday, September 4, starting at 7 p.m., in Greencastle, Indiana.

The Grizzlies fell 3-1 at home to No. 5-ranked Ohio Northern University in the season opener on August 30. The match was part of the Daniel Schuetz Community Classic at Faught Stadium.

Sophomore Austin Fundenberger (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) scored a first-half goal to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage. Fundenberger also had a game-high five shots against the Polar Bears. The midfielder scored six goals and had three assists last season, when he was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year.

DePauw is ranked 21st in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll after picking up two victories in the opening weekend of the season. The Tigers defeated Centre College 2-1 before earning a 6-0 triumph over Knox College.

The Grizzlies will participate in the Centre Invitational on Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8, facing the host Colonels and Spalding University.
