Box Score Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's soccer team closed out its non-conference schedule with a scoreless draw against regionally ranked Birmingham-Southern College on Saturday afternoon at Faught Stadium. Both teams had seven shots on goal in the match.
Birmingham-Southern (6-2-1) entered the match ranked sixth in the South Region.
Franklin (2-4-2) held a 3-2 shot advantage in the final 10-minute overtime period.
Senior goalkeeper Lucas Hill (Culver, Ind./Plymouth) made seven saves in 110 minutes of action. He made three saves during each half of regulation.
Offensively, senior William Hilgendorf (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) led the team's 16-shot attack with five shots. Sophomore Austin Fundenberger (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) added four shots, including two on goal. Sophomore Thadeus Broderick (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) recorded three shots.
Birmingham-Southern held a slight edge, 17-16, in shots during the tightly contested match.
Franklin returns to the pitch to open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play at Earlham College on Saturday, October 5 at 3 p.m. in Richmond, Indiana.
