Richmond, Ind. - The Franklin College women's soccer team rallied from an early deficit and battled through a weather delay to defeat Earlham College 2-1 in double overtime on Saturday in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) opener in Richmond, Indiana.

Junior Brandy Ramaj (Washington, Ind./Washington) scored the game-winning goal in the 106th minute. The goal was set up by senior Vanessa Benham (Needham, Ind./Franklin Community), who has had five assists this season.

Franklin (7-3, 1-0 HCAC) recorded the only three shots in the second 10-minute overtime period.

Earlham got on the scoreboard in the 10th minute on a goal by Annie Frodeman.

Junior Danielle Owens (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) squared the match, 1-1, in the 19th minute. The goal was her first score of the season.

Franklin has scored two or more goals in seven of its last eight matches this fall.

Junior goalkeeper Christa Hendrickson (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) made 10 saves in the match, including five in the second half to keep the score 1-1.

Earlham (1-6-1, 0-1 HCAC) held a 18-16 advantage in shots, but Franklin's 10 shots were on goal.

Ramaj led the Grizzlies' offensive attack with six shots, while junior Kayla Dragstrem (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) recorded three shots. Senior Natalie Scott (Whiteland, Ind./Whiteland) and Benham each had two shots.

Franklin returns to the pitch on Tuesday, October 8 at 7 p.m. when it hosts Manchester University in HCAC action at Faught Stadium. Live statistics of the game will be available here.
