Late Rally Falls Short as Men's Soccer Loses at Hanover

Hanover, Ind. - The Franklin College men's soccer team scored two second-half goals but it wasn't enough in losing 3-2 at Hanover College in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) on Wednesday.

After trailing 3-0 at halftime, the Grizzlies started the rally when a ball was deflected in to the goal by a Hanover defender in the 69th minute.

Later, sophomore Zachery Shoufler (Fortville, Ind./Greenfield-Central) scored an unassisted goal with four minutes remaining in the match.

Hanover (10-6-2, 6-1-1 HCAC) scored three goals in the first 21 minutes of the match.

Franklin freshman Antonio Gioe (Martinsville, Ind./Mooresville) led the team's seven-shot attack with four shots. Junior Brandon Iaria (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport), sophomore Thadeus Broderick (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and Shoufler each had one shot.

Franklin (4-10-2, 2-6 HCAC) closes out the season at home on Saturday, November 2 at 8 p.m. against Anderson University from Faught Stadium.
