Demetrius Bailey

Demetrius Bailey is entering his sixth season as the Head Men’s & Women’s Track and Field Coach and Assistant Cross Country Coach at Franklin College. Bailey joined the Franklin College Coaching staff in 2012 as a Cross Country and Track & Field Intern.

During Bailey’s tenure at Franklin, he has continued to build on the strong traditions of a competitive track and field team in the Heartland Colligate Athletic Conference and the Great Lakes region. He has guided numerous Grizzles to All-HCAC accolades and coached both Georard Mitchell and Nathan Adams to the NCAA National Championships. In 2015 Bailey was an assistant Coach for the HCAC Indoor women’s conference championship team. He also assisted on the 2015 Outdoor All-Indiana DIII Track & Field Women’s Championship team. Bailey was an Assistant Coach/Strength Coach for the Indoor and Outdoor All- American and Outdoor National champion Anna Murdock in 2015.

From the fall of 2013 to the fall of 2016, Bailey served as an assistant Football Coach for Franklin College. Coaching running backs and assisted with Special teams. In that time, the Football program won four HCAC Conference Championship titles.

His other duties at Franklin College include serving as an instructor in Circuit training, Cardio, and Coaching track and field. He has been an active member in the Franklin College community. Coach Bailey was the All-Campus speed and agility coach from the fall of 2012 to the spring of 2015. 2016-2018 was an advisor for B.S.U (Black Student Union). 2020-2021 was a mentor in the B.O.S.S (Building Opportunities through Support and Structure) program. Coach Bailey was also a part of the President Council on Diversity and Inclusion in 2020-2021.

Coach Bailey was a four-year letter winner in football, indoor and outdoor track and field at Muskingum University. He holds Muskingum indoor and outdoor triple jump records and the indoor pentathlon record. In his years at Muskingum, he received the school’s Outstanding Freshman, and Outstanding Senior Athlete Award. In his second year, he was awarded with the Roy “Red” Turner Strive for Excellence Award. Bailey was a 2x NCAA Outdoor National competitor in the triple jump. He also received the OAC Indoor Championship Field athlete of the year as a freshman and again as a senior.
