Michael Spencer joined the Franklin swimming and diving program as an assistant coach prior to the start of the 2024-25 season and helped the Grizzly women claim their seventh straight HCAC Championship in his first year with the program.Â
Prior to joining Franklin, Spencer spent four years as an assistant at Alfred University and was part of the coaching staff that helped win the Empire 8 Championship in 2023.
At Westminster (Penn.) College, Spencer was a three-time All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) first-team selection and a part of multiple championship free relays at 200- and 400-meters, as well as a two-time 200-medley relay championship winner. Individually, Spencer won the 50-freestyle championship as a rookie in 2016.
A PAC All-Academic selection, Spencer earned a B.S. in Business Administration and Sports Management from Westminster. In high school, Spencer finished as high as third in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state meet in the 50-freestyle, and won two District 9 championships in the 50- and 100- freestyle.
