Colin McSharar was elevated to head coach in October 2016 after serving as an assistant coach for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
McSharar's defense and goalies showed great improvement in the inaugural varsity season with three of the team's seven All-Ohio River Lacrosse Conference honorable mention honors for the 2015 season being on the defensive end of the field.
The defense bettered its overall season statistics for goals against average, draw controls, and caused turnovers in the 2016 season from the 2015 campaign. Franklin allowed a program record two goals in a home win against Trine University in 2016.
The Grizzlies are coming off a .500 record with a 6-6 mark and fifth place finish in the ORWLC. Paige Clark '16 earned second-team all-conference accolades as a defender in 2016.
McSharar previously served as the head coach of Butler University's men's club team from 2012-2014. He also acted as a consultant for Butler's women's club team during the same time. In 2011, he was the defensive coordinator for the boys team at Bishop Chatard High School and the goalie coach for the boys and girls team at Bishop Chatard. McSharar works with Indy United Lacrosse Club as a goalie coach, and has also done private lessons for several high school goalies around Indianapolis- producing several All-State selections.
He was a four-year letter winner as a goalie at Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis. McSharar was also a four-year letter winner and two-year starter at Mount St. Joseph University. During his senior year in 2011, he helped lead the Lions to their first ever conference championship game. An All-Conference selection that year, he led the conference in goals against average, total saves, and clearing percentage. He currently holds the school record for wins in a season and total goals against average. He also holds the NCAA record for career points as a goalie with 3. While at MSJ, McSharar was coached by 2000 Syracuse National Champion Patrick Kennedy, the son of Ohio Lacrosse Hall of Fame coach Thomas Kennedy.
McSharar earned a bachelor's degree in Business Management from Mount St. Joseph in 2011.
