Brittney Harvey was tabbed as the new head coach of the Franklin College softball program, with Director of Athletics Lance Marshall announcing the appointment on July 23, 2024. In addition to leading the softball program, Harvey will also assume the title of Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Women's Administrator (SWA) at the College.
Â
"I'm extremely excited to get started at Franklin," Harvey said. "The program has been getting stronger year after year and I'm ready to join the program and continue to build this program into a contender in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) and nationally. I'm excited to work with a really, really good and hard-working core coming back and with the incoming recruiting class as we continue to make strides forward."
Â
A long-time coaching veteran at the Division III level, Harvey's most recent coaching stop was at Hope College, where she was the head coach for the 2023 season and led the Flying Dutch to a 21-win campaign. Prior to assuming the head duties at Hope, Harvey was an assistant coach at national powerhouse Trine University from 2011-22, helping guide the Thunder to four conference championships and her time with her alma mater culminated with an appearance in the national championship series in 2022.
Â
In addition to her work with the softball program, Harvey served as Trine's SWA and faculty advisor for the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) from 2021-22.
Â
Before entering the coaching world, Harvey graduated from Tri-State University (now Trine) in 2010 with a degree in civil engineering and completed her master's degree in leadership with an emphasis on organizational behavior from Trine in 2018. As a student-athlete at Trine, she was part of two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championships and ended her career as the program's all-time leader in slugging percentage.
