Aaron Karrer joined the Franklin College football staff in 2026 as the offensive line coach.
Karrer, an assistant coach for 24 seasons at Columbus North High School, helped the Bull Dogs amass a 157-107 record from 2000 through 2023. During that time, the program claimed four Conference Indiana championships (2004, 2018, 2020 and 2021), three sectional titles (2004, 2006, 2007) and three regional crowns (2004, 2006, 2007) while annually competing in the highest classification of Indiana football.
Throughout Karrer’s 24 years as the offensive line/tight ends coach at Columbus North his position players earned All-Conference honors 52 times (35 first team, 17 honorable mention). In addition, the program’s offensive linemen/tight ends earned 17 All-State honors, seven were selected to the North-South All-Star game, four earned National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete awards and two players were recognized as IFCA Mr. Football Position Award winners.
A 1992 graduate of Columbus North, Karrer went on to Indiana State, where he played football while earning a bachelor’s degree in visual arts education in 1997. He later earned a master’s degree in school counseling from Indiana State in 2004.
Karrer has been an educator in Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation since 1998. He was a teacher at Mt. Healthy Elementary School (1998-2000) and a School Counselor at Fodrea Elementary School (2000-08). Karrer has been at Columbus North High School since 2008, first serving as Dean of Students (2008-2023) and currently working as the school counselor for the 2030 graduating class.
He and his late wife Jill have a daughter, Elise.
