Franklin College

2014 Hall of Fame Class

Bill Unsworth, a 1971 alumnus, was a key contributor to the football and track and field teams from 1967-71. The offensive and defensive lineman was named the Grizzlies’ Most Outstanding Defensive Player after helping the 1970 team win the Mineral Water Bowl. He was co-captain of that team.

In track and field, Unsworth won the Little State championship in the shot put event, and posted an undefeated dual and triangular meet record during his junior and senior year.

Unsworth served as Franklin College’s head football coach from 1998 to 2002, and has been a teacher and head football coach at Edinburgh High School since 2010.

Jackie Ferguson, a 1983 graduate, was a consistent scorer for Franklin’s women’s basketball program in the early 1980s, joining with Hall of Famer Judi Warren to help lead the team capture two NAIA championships. She also was a member of teams that defeated unbeaten Butler University and Indiana Institute of Technology.

In the NAIA national finals, Ferguson scored 41 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in the team’s two games. She was named to the national honors court team for that strong play.

Ferguson has taught sixth grade physical education and health at Greenwood Middle School for the past 29 years. She has been named the Indiana Middle Level Association District 9 Teacher of the Year and earned local and district VFW Teacher of the Year awards.

Jason Sibley, a 1999 alumnus, was a two-time All-American men’s basketball player who helped the Grizzlies advance to the Sweet 16 round of the 1999 NCAA Division III national championship tournament, and achieve consecutive 23-6 seasons during his junior and senior seasons. He graduated as the program’s 10th all-time scorer (1,469 points), and holds records for single season steals (70) and career steals (257).

Sibley increased his scoring average during each of his four seasons, averaging 21.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game as a senior.  He is a manager for Lowe’s in Lewisville, Texas.
