Doreen St. Clair, coach
Â
Doreen St. Clair had remarkable success as head coach of Franklin’s men’s and women’s tennis, track and field, volleyball and field hockey teams. She helped start the field hockey and women’s tennis programs. It didn’t take long for St. Clair to lead the women’s tennis team to success, posting 38 victories on the court during the 1979-81 seasons. The 1981-82 season may have been her best, with a 14-1 record, while the 1979-80 team won the AIAW Division II state tournament and advanced to the Midwest regional tournament. Her success also carried over to men’s tennis, leading the Grizzlies to a 7-2 record during the spring of 1976. St. Clair’s teams had 15-7 and 16-6 records during her final two volleyball seasons.
