Senior men's track athlete
Jonah Decker and sophomore women's track athlete
Fiona Sodrel were chosen to represent Franklin College on the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's Christopher M. Ragsdale Sportsmanship team for the 2026 spring season.
The HCAC All-Sportsmanship Award is named in honor of former HCAC commissioner Christopher M. Ragsdale, who led the conference from 2009 to 2018. In its inaugural season, the All-Sportsmanship team was recognized following each sports season, and the league has returned to this practice of honoring athletes outside of the conference championship season to elevate the focus placed on these deserving individuals.
Decker, an Indianapolis native, competed in distance events for the Griz men and finished 10th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the HCAC Outdoor Championships. He was an honorable mention All-HCAC runner during cross country season, placing 15th at the conference meet as Franklin earned a third-place team finish.
Sodrel, who hails from Bargersville, Indiana, is also a distance runner. She placed 10th in both the 800 and 1,500 meter races at the HCAC outdoor meet and was part of the Grizzlies' third-place distance medley relay during indoor season.
The sportsmanship award was developed as part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative in 2009. Members of the All-HCAC Sportsmanship team for each championship season include two athletes from each member institution, each of whom are selected by their schools as individuals who represent values that are associated with positive sportsmanship on and off the field/court. Nominees must have demonstrated consistently values such as fairness, respect, integrity, support and positivity in their participation in intercollegiate athletics within the HCAC.
