The returning members of the Franklin women's swim and dive team picked up right where they left off last winter — and the Griz newcomers didn't need much time to get up to speed.

Freshman Josie Blanchard and senior Alexis Fleming were voted as the HCAC's Swimmer and Diver of the Week on the women's side after strong showings at the season-opening meet, the Indiana Division III Championships in Terre Haute.

Fleming, the reigning conference champion on both the 1- and 3-meter diving boards, swept both of those events on Saturday, earning a score of 203.75 at 3 meters and 185.55 at 1 meter.

Blanchard, meanwhile, earned a victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a solid early-season time of 5:22.94. She also placed second in the 1,000 freestyle at 11:11.78 and swam on a pair of Franklin relays.

The Grizzlies will compete in their home opener Friday evening (5:30 p.m.) against Valparaiso at Franklin Middle School.
