RICHMOND, Ind. – The Grizzlies women's tennis team concluded their season on Wednesday (Apr. 30) afternoon, taking on the Earlham Quakers.
The Grizzlies (7-15, 2-5 HCAC) fell to the Quakers (10-8, 5-1 HCAC) by a 5-2 score to halt their tournament run in the first round.
The doubles saw one win come out of the three matches, with
Mattie Foster and
Sofie Ballesteros earning a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles. But Earlham earned the doubles point, winning the number one and two doubles matches 6-2 and 6-3, respectively.
Franklin would earn two wins in the singles matches,
Emma Sappenfield picking up the first, 6-0, (6-0) in the number four matchup. Foster would return in the number six match to claim a tight victory, 6-4, (4-6), (1-0). Earlham would win four out of the six matches to claim the overall victory.
