RECAP | Whitman, Ecenbarger Record Six-Point Afternoons to Close Out Season

CINCINNATI, Ohio – For the final time in the regular season, the Franklin women's lacrosse team suited up and hit the road for a meeting with the Mount St. Joseph Lions.
 
The Grizzlies (1-8, 0-5 HCLC) got a six-goal afternoon from Addie Whitman and the first hat trick of Claire Ecenbarger's career, but Franklin couldn't climb out of an early hole as the Lions (3-10, 1-4 HCLC) went on to win 24-12.
 
How it Happened. Franklin got on the board less than two minutes in with a goal from Abby Moore. Whitman netted her first of the day with 6:36 to go in the first quarter, the final goal of the period to cut the Lions' lead to 6-2. Ecenbarger got her first of the day with 9:27 to go in the half while Whitman netted one goal and Avery Tomlinson scored twice in the final two minutes to cut the Lions' lead to 14-6 at the break.
 
Ecenbarger and Whitman both scored midway through the third quarter, but a 6-0 Mount run stretched the lead to double digits for good.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Whitman not only led the Grizzlies in scoring, but she set new career highs with 14 shot attempts and eight shots on goal while adding four ground balls and five caused turnovers.
-Ecenbarger enjoyed a career afternoon on the score sheet, adding three assists to go with her hat trick and a team-high seven draw controls.
-Moore and Maddie Cary tied for the team lead with three caused turnovers each.
-Tomlinson's two goals gave her the first multi-point game of her career.
-Catherine Scott made nine saves in goal for the Grizzlies.
