RECAP | Grizzlies Roll Past Lions, Earn First HCLC Win of Campaign

FRANKLIN – The Franklin women's lacrosse team dominated from start to finish on Monday (Apr. 15) night, picking up their first conference win of the year with an 18-3 thrashing of Mount St. Joseph.
 
Mia Turnbaugh led the Grizzlies (2-6, 1-2 HCLC) with six goals and eight points as Franklin put the game's first 12 goals past the Lions (1-10, 0-3 HCLC) defense and coasted to victory.
 
How it Happened
Franklin peppered the Lions early and often and got all four of their first period goals in the opening nine minutes, with Turnbaugh and Jillian Schlieper scoring twice each. The Grizzlies put things out of reach with seven more second quarter goals and added four more in the third and three in the fourth to close out the win.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Turnbaugh finished the night with team highs in shots (12) and shots on goal (nine) to go along with her eight-point evening.
-Jillian Schlieper potted fove goals and had six points while Bella Frye added four goals to her team-high total for the season, which now sits at 29.
-Abby Moore recorded the first points of her career, netting a goal and handing out two assists.
-Bessie Kerr scored the first goal of her career in the final seconds and handed out an assist.
-Sydney Briggs potted a goal and finished with one helper.
-Jamie Schlieper needed to make just four saves in the Franklin goal.
-Franklin finished with 23 ground balls, with Maddie Cary's five leading the team.
