RECAP | Women's Swimming Bests DePauw in Weekend-Long Dual Matchup

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Franklin women's swimming and diving team faced off with in-state rival DePauw on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 12-13) in a two-day dual meet between the sides.
 
The Grizzlies went on to win 11 of the 19 events over two days, winning the dual by a 186.5-160.5 count to move to 7-0 in head-to-head matchups this season.
 
Picking up first place finishes for the Grizzlies over the weekend were:
-Samantha Phillips in the 500 free (5:17.16), 200 butterfly (2:13.50) and 100 butterfly (1:00.91)
-Caileigh McCafferty in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.75), 200 IM (2:12.05), 200 free (1:58.08) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.93)
-Kat Lundy in the 200 backstroke (2:09.39)
-Kaleigh Schuler on the 1-meter board (246.40)
-Carley Bond on the 3-meter board (289.95)
-400 medley relay of Lundy, McCafferty, Celeste Hollis and Petal Sloan (4:02.10)
 
Grizzlies earning top-three finishes over the weekend included:
-Phillips placing second in the 200 free (1:58.57
-Lundy taking second in the 200 fly (2:18.23), 100 backstroke (1:00.74) and 400 IM (4:55.86
-Sloan taking second in the 50 free (25.18) and third in the 200 free (1:58.77)
-Hollis placing second in the 100 free (54.70) and 100 fly (1:01.23) and third in the 50 free (25.34)
-Ashley Summers taking second on the 1-meter board (200.40)
-Emma Gentry placing second on the 3-meter board (214.80)
-Regan Hendricks finishing third in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.91)
-Kennedy Minter finishing third in the 200 fly (2:24.73)
-Erin Perkins taking third in the 1000 free (11:26.56)
-Avery Tomlinson finishing third in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.09)
-Landi Newcomb taking third in the 100 fly (1:01.70)
-Gabby Cunningham placing third on the 1-meter board (190.90)
-Kamryn Elder taking third on the 3-meter board (196.25)
 
Franklin is back in action next Friday (Jan. 19) night, hosting Rose-Hulman on Senior Night at Franklin Middle School. The opening race is set for 6:00 p.m.
