INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Franklin men's tennis team capped a busy weekend of competition on Sunday (Apr. 16) with matchup against Division II Kentucky Wesleyan inside the UIndy Tennis Center.
The Grizzlies (5-12) fell on the wrong end of a 5-4 decision for the second day in a row, with the Panthers (2-12) battling back to win the match.
Franklin jumped out to a 2-1 lead in doubles play, getting an 8-4 win from the No. 2 pair of
Lucas Densford and
Ezra Schwier and an 8-3 win from
Nathan Jarboe and
Shay Kyser at the third position in the doubles lineup.
Schwier won his No. 4 singles matchup 6-2, 6-2 and
Owen Pickerill earned his third three-set win of the weekend in as many days with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-7 win from the third spot in the lineup. But the Panthers were able to take the other four singles matches, including a pair of three-set wins of their own at the fifth and sixth spots in the order.
Franklin gets back at it on Wednesday (Apr. 19) afternoon, heading to IU-Southeast for a 4:00 p.m. showdown.
